Key Responsibilities: 

 

The role of operations Manager entails overseeing the operations and management of transportation activities across India. Here’s an outline of their responsibilities:

 

  • Operational Oversight:Supervising and managing day-to-day operations of cargo transportation across branches. This involves coordinating with different branches.
  • Team Leadership:Managing and leading a team of supervisors, coordinators, drivers, and support staff within the region. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
  • Vendor Management:  Overlooking the Vendor Management Team and grow the vendor base and focus on improvement in relations with vendors. Handle Escalations from Vendors
  • Performance Management :  Setting performance metrics, KPIs, and targets for the region and evaluating the performance of teams against these benchmarks. Implementing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce transit times, and minimize errors.
  • Risk Management:Identifying potential risks within the transportation process and implementing strategies to mitigate them. This includes developing contingency plans for unexpected events that could impact cargo transport operations.
  • Reporting and Analysis:Generating regular reports on key performance indicators, identify trends, inefficiencies, or areas for improvement, and making informed decisions to optimize operations.

 

Functional skills

 

  • Logistics and Supply Chain Understanding –
    • Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management principles.
    • Coordinate transportation services effectively within the larger supply chain
  • Safety and Compliance –
    • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to logistics operations.
    • Ability to enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Operational Management –
    • Ability to efficiently oversee day-to-day branch operations, ensuring smooth and effective processes.
    • Implement and optimize operational procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Financial Management –
    • Strong financial acumen to manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and ensure branch profitability.
    • Implement cost-control measures while maintaining high-quality services.
  • Regulatory Compliance –
    • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations in India.
    • Ensure the branch's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Equipment Knowledge –
    • Knowledge of loading equipment and machinery
    • What Equipment needs to be checked and their levels of operational fitness for it to be deemed fit to be loaded.
  • Customer Relationship Management –
    • Skills in maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients.
    • Ability to address customer concerns promptly and proactively.
  • Vendor Management –
    • Negotiation skills to secure favorable contracts with transportation service providers.
    • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Time and Resource Management –
    • Efficiently manage branch schedules and allocate resources optimally.
    • Prioritize tasks to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Market Analysis and Strategy –
    • Analytical skills to assess market trends, competition, and industry developments.
    • Develop and implement strategies to position the branch competitively.

 

  • Basic Computer Skills - Proficiency in using basic computer applications for documentation and reporting
